This wallpaper features an erupting volcano, Sarychev Peak, which blew its top on June 12, 2009. Located on Matua Island, Russia, the large plumes of ash ended up causing some disruption in the main air routes flown between East Asia and North America. A shock wave, caused by the eruption, made a hole in the overhead clouds, making it possible for NASA to take this image as the went by in the International Space Station.
