This wallpaper shows the Thomas Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C., USA. The memorial was originally conceived in 1901 as a place to host several statues of illustrious men of the nation. It was completed in 1943 and the bronze statue of Jefferson was added in 1947. The memorial finally came about when President Roosevelt, an admirer of Jefferson, inquired about the possibility of putting a memorial to Jefferson in that area. Image by Joe Ravi. |
